Phase II Complete

Phase II, which consisted of 60% of the entire renovation, is complete and was turned over to patient care on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

Changes included a dedicated walk-in patient entrance, waiting area, five new private patient rooms, and a care team station with improved site lines.  In addition, beams and foundation work were laid to accommodate the increased space.

Look below to see some of the exciting changes!

When patients enter the department though the new walk-in patient entrance, the admissions desk is immediately in front of them, with security to their left and the waiting area to their right.

The waiting area features large windows, a fireplace, as well as storage cubbies for ski helmets and boots.  It also features a connection to the hallway between the Medical Office Building and the hospital.

Gone are the days of curtains separating patients. New private patient rooms offer increased privacy and a better patient experience. This row of private patient rooms includes a room and private bathroom for YVMC’s sexual assault response team to better care for patients.

The care team space includes areas for nursing, physicians and admissions staff. It also provides a dedicated area for pharmacists to prepare medications as necessary.

Patients now enter the department through a dedicated entrance with a heated walk-way.
